Our stylishly designed engine guard, compared to the original silver-coloured version, stands out thanks to the optimised protection area and the fact that we offer it in black.
The functional design and structural integration of our engine guard protect the engine housing, oil sump and manifold. It fits so closely around the unit that not only is the frontal surface optimised, but ground and lean angle clearance remain virtually unchanged. The shape of the guard reduces the risk of unpleasant levering or snagging off-road, whether caused by branches, scree or rocks. Openings ensure that water taken in after river crossings can drain freely.
The angled impact plates deflect stone chips or foreign objects swirled up by the front wheel in such a way that the risk of damage to the manifold and engine is significantly reduced. Another advantage of this engine guard is that it deflects spray water swirled up in waves downwards, and especially when the engine is hot, it helps to significantly reduce thermal stress on the engine housing, manifolds and seals.
The complex component shape and geometry are the result of optimising material thickness and weight, while at the same time achieving high structural rigidity and mechanical stability. The result is a resistant, weight- and shape-optimised engine guard that fits so closely around the unit that the design principle of “form follows function” becomes obvious, highlighting the Edge design in Adventure look at its best.
The high-quality engine guard is solidly bolted using precise connection points already present on the motorcycle. External forces and moments are distributed over the mounts to reduce peak loads and moments. Vibrations are effectively absorbed.
